Lack of Health Insurance in Texas is Among Critical Healthcare Shortages

Need for Texas Health Insurance Is Worst in the Nation

In 2008, Texas fell from 37th to 46th on the United Health Foundation’s ranking of the states based on healthcare statistics. According to the Houston Chronicle, Texas is among the states that are best prepared to respond to a public health emergency, but this is the same state that has the highest percentage of residents surviving with no Health Insurance in Texas.

Ironically, literally hundreds of Texas Health Insurance Plans are available, including plans from Aetna, Assurant, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Celtic, Humana, and United Healthcare. The largest health insurance providers in Texas have also added mail delivery of prescription medications to make it easier for members to obtain many of the most common maintenance medications for conditions like diabetes and heart problems. Aetna, Anthem, and Humana are providing these mail-order prescriptions.

A Critical Shortage of Nurses in Texas Is Met with New Nursing Programs

In addition to a lack of Health Insurance for Texas residents, a critical shortage of nurses has been a problem. This nursing shortage is being challenged in South Texas with plans to graduate more nurses at all educational levels.

The University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio plans to transform nursing education thanks to the largest donation that their School of Nursing has received in its 40-year history. Methodist Healthcare Ministries of South Texas Inc. gave $3.9 million to fund new nursing education.

A co-owner in Methodist Healthcare System, Methodist Healthcare Ministries is the largest faith-based, not-for-profit, private funding source for health care services to low-income families, and those without health insurance in Southern Texas.

Hiring and supporting qualified nursing faculty had been a problem at the university since many faculty members were retiring, and state dollars failed to cover the university’s expenses. The university plans to use $2.7 million of the donation for faculty and curriculum specialists, and to teach three new nursing degree programs.

One such program will be an accelerated bachelor’s degree in nursing for students who currently have a bachelor’s degree in a different field. This program starts in May of this year, and has 70 students. A second program, an accelerated online master’s degree for nurses with an associate’s degree in nursing, begins next January in 2011 with 46 students. That same month, the university is also starting a doctorate in nursing practice with 10 students.

When fully implemented, these new programs will help the school admit an additional 20 traditional undergraduate students, 70 accelerated undergraduate students, 46 additional master’s students, and 10 doctoral students.

New Hospital Opens in Dallas Area

The recent opening of Methodist McKinney Hospital exemplifies the need for nurses in Texas. Methodist McKinney Hospital is a 65,000-square-foot project in the Dallas area. The new hospital offers comprehensive diagnostic imaging with CT and MRI services, six operating rooms, and 15 private patient rooms.

The hospital will also offer a wide range of physician specialties, such as general surgery, gynecology, neurosurgery, orthopedics, otolaryngology, pain management, and primary care. Within a year, the division also expects to begin taking patients at another $60 million hospital in the Dallas-area.

Health Insurance for Texas Residents Needed to Benefit From New Hospital

Health Insurance Quotes for Texas can be found online along with contact numbers to reach expert advisors who can answer questions about how the available plans fit individual needs. Short-term and student health plans are available online, too, for temporary situations.

Nevada Health Insurance Needs Restructuring

Nevada is one state that works hard towards ensuring that the residents receive adequate health insurance policies for tackling medical emergencies. Nevada health insurance programs keep revising and modifying their plans although it has been found that there are only barely 82% of the total state’s population that invests in health or medical insurance. This goes on to indicate that about 20 people out of 100 are unprotected in the state.

There’s a marked dearth in the government’s initiative in supporting the residents with adequate and agreeable Nevada health insurance programs as compared to the role taken on by the governments of the other states. However, in stark contrast, there are a high number of employers that extend Nevada health insurance to their employees. The number is about 53% and these are a selected group of employees who are offered employer help and assistance when it comes to medical insurance.

However, despite the trend showing a decline in the last 5 years, more and more health based insurance companies are coming up to make room for interested residents to come up and invest and thereby stay clear of the emergency situations that might arise. More and more people are taking on the advantage that is being offered by the employer.

There’s a great need for funding per capita in the sphere of public health for ensuring the safety of the residents. Nevada makes every initiative to offer health care facilities to its residents. The rate of primary physicians who are ready for tackling any situation is about 85% and this is true for per every 100000 residents. In fact, a lot of experts are of the view that when it comes to providing health care benefits, there should be adequate resources as well as quality for turning the things around into a positive state.

The number of people in the total Nevada population that is capable of medical care is at 86%. The insurance companies are trying their best to retrieve the condition by providing more and more health plans. In fact, if you live in Nevada, and are looking around for medical insurance you can check with the Division of Insurance in Nevada which is a body that helps check an insurance company or agent if you show interest in them for purchasing their policy.

The health ranking of Nevada stands at 42. It was based on the founding of the United Health Foundation on the basis of several kinds of health indicators which compared to the resources available in the rest of the nation. This is below average of the policies that are available for the people elsewhere. Thus, there’s a need for a healthier environment.

What needs to be done is hat the people need to be encouraged to invest in various health insurance policies. Moreover, employers should make more health plans available for their employees and their families or dependents. They can for instance avail of the COBRA continuation coverage or be eligible for the HIPAA.

Can a Mind Body Spirit Detox Help Mental Health and Healing?

The Human Spirit is the Key to Mental Emotional and Physical Health

The key to understanding the connection between all these parts of our self is the energy body, the subtle energy system, the missing link to health, happiness and freedom, on all levels, a real existing part of us that is totally ignored and unaccepted as reality in conventional approaches to mental health, and yet, the energy body, the spirit person, the human spirit is the key to health on all levels.

The Mental Health Foundation has defined a mentally healthy individual as one who can:

Develop emotionally, creatively, intellectually and spiritually
Initiate develop and sustain satisfying personal relationships
Face problems, resolve and learn from them
Be confident and assertive
Be aware of others and empathize with them
Use and enjoy solitude
Play and have fun
Laugh at themselves and the world

So how did we develop mental health issues and problems?

Let’s explore this from the point of view of the human energy system, the human spirit.

We have an energy body. We can’t see it, though some technologies do allow us to see energy fields of living things. Some talk about the aura, chakras, and meridians for energy to flow in the energy body. Many successful healing therapies are based on the existence of the energy system and restoring flow when it is blocked. And this is the key, finding blockage and restoring flow in the energy system.

So how does it get blocked in the first place? Ah well, that’s life. Our energy system is processing life events, people, nature, things in through and out of the energy system, in the same way as the physical body processes food in through and out. We eat, digest, circulate, metabolize, get energy from, and are regenerated by, then eliminate the food that we eat. That’s in through and out, changing us in the process. When everything is flowing well, we body processes are healthy. If we get blockage in any are problems and symptoms start to develop e.g. indigestion, colon problems, liver problems, arteries, lymph. It’s all about circulation and getting the nutrients to the right parts. After that the body knows how to be healthy.

So how does flow and nutrition relate to mental health?

We process the energies of life in the same way, in through and out. We compare this to acceptance, understanding, compassion, learning, releasing, forgiving, transformation and evolution, and delight and enjoyment in the process. All our positive emotional experiences we can now see as the flow of the energy of life through our energy system. It feels good. Positive emotions arise from flow of these energies of life through our energy system and energy nutrition is the learning, the feel good factor, the growth, the transformation we get from that aspect of life. This is healthy flow. This is in fact how we are designed, just as the body is designed to be healthy. This is our natural starting state, until life happened!

What are blockages in the Energy Body?

So, as we can get blockage in the physical body, we get blockage in the energy body. For example, we avoid because we can’t handle something, we cannot accept, we resist, or we hurt if we do accept, we hold on, we don’t understand well, we don’t see clearly, we can’t forgive and we feel bad. These are our painful emotions and we feel this in the body too.

In fact, where we feel it in the body is where the energy is stuck.

Events of Life Stuck in Processing

So when we are not in that state of mental health that we defined above, it’s because something happened to us, an event that we processed through our energy system, but it got stuck along the way. Maybe it was too big to handle for a young energy system. So there it stayed, that energy forever attached to the thought or memory of that event, held in the energy body, at the physical location that we can feel, when we recall it. And life continues to happen, events upon events, stored causing further blockage and behaviors that arise from these blockages because somewhere along the way, the support wasn’t there to help that person process and release those events in life. So growth and learning didn’t happen. Nourishment of the spirit to bring confidence and strength didn’t happen.

Furthermore a blocked energy system, has reduced ability to process future events, coping ability is impaired. We emotionally react. Eventually the discomfort of handling life can be so great that disconnection is required, numbing out the feelings and ongoing pressure leads to depression.

It’s all Energy and Only Energy

It’s all a form of energy indigestion, energy constipation, and energetic injury of some kind.

Understanding this is really great news.

Now that we have energy release techniques in the growing field of energy psychology, such as EFT, EmoTrance, TAT and more, we can locate and release the blockage, restore the flow, and heal the energy system. Once more in flow, the state of health returns. We feel relaxed and free, we see clearly from a new perspective, we have new resources we didn’t have before for this situation. We have learned and grown. We are back to mental emotional and spiritual health. We can do this for all life events that got stuck in processing through the energy system and these techniques allow us to release the energy without having to talk about these events over and over again.

So, energy healing, also called healing the spirit, is a key to facilitating mental healing.

Why Come on a Retreat for Mental Healing?

By the time a person is depressed, suffering chronic anxiety, has low confidence and self esteem, is numb or disconnected, there is a lot of life events stored in the energy system that need releasing.

A number of therapy sessions are recommend, using EFT or EmoTrance or TAT and there is unequivocal evidence gathered over many years from thousands of people of the effectiveness of these techniques to create mental healing and change. This can be a challenge to those who follow more conventional talk therapies and medication approaches, and so we find resistance from that sector, but thankfully, not from everyone.

A healing retreat is the perfect opportunity to spend time in a supportive environment and receive a number of healing sessions, tuning in to key events and releasing them, creating increasing flow within, increasing relaxation, lightness and clarity. It’s a chance to make some real progress in creating change and forward movement, improvements in mental health.

Other studies show nutrition also has an effect on our mental health. How much sugar and refined foods we eat play havoc with our blood sugar levels and moods. The lack of specific nutrients in our diet has been shown to lead to vital processes not working well. The brain is an organ that needs food just as much as the rest of our body. When we are in a low mental state, we often don’t take care about our diet.

It is easy to understand the benefits of combining energy healing with optimum nutritional support for mental healing. A mind body spirit detox, cleansing out the old, restoring flow and putting back in optimum fuel in terms of food and in terms of what our spirit feeds on: nature, life, people, relationships, love.

So in fact, by a complete mind body spirit detox healing retreat could be a great way to help mental healing or form a new kind of mental health retreat.

Helpful Tips to Buy Health Insurance

California is a big state and is placed at 23rd position among the 50 states of the US in the healthiest states ranking provided by the United Health Foundation.

The prevalence of smoking is low in the state and so is the rate of occupational fatalities. Infant mortality and cancer deaths are also low, which give positive signs about the state’s health system. However, high prevalence of poverty has marred the efforts in ensuring that Californians are offered health insurance policies to make them financially secure during the event of illness or injury. Healthcare reforms will be bringing a lot of changes in the health status of the state; however, there is still time for the total implementation of those reforms.

There are lots of private insurers that provide various options for buying affordable health insurance in California. Aetna, Anthem Blue Cross, Assurant, Blue Shield, Celtic, Cigna, Healthnet, IAC, Kaiser Permanente, PacifiCare, and Solera Dental are some of major carriers.

Some tips to buy health insurance in California

1. Californians can open an account with Health Savings Account (HSA), which really is a good option. These HSAs helps the consumers in reducing the premium cost while still being able to have major medical coverage. An account with HSA allows the consumers to deposit money that grows tax-free until you withdraw the funds to pay for your healthcare needs.

2. Unlike life insurance, health insurance policies are subjected to change annually. Californians should re-evaluate their insurance policies to make sure that are having what they require. Sometimes, new options arise with better coverage, lower premiums and ease of operations-consumers should review their policies as they expire.

3. Consumers can consider having a health insurance plan that has higher deductibles. Having a plan with high deductibles ensure that the out-of-the-pocket expense would be more but you will be saving a lot on your monthly premium. So, over a long period, the compensation will bring savings for the consumers-such types of health insurance plans are ideal for consumers having good health status.

4. Consumers in California should not feel shy in trying to work with an insurance agent that offers health insurance policies from more than one company. This allows consumers to make better choices and also eliminate an ulterior motive of the insurance agent to sell his company’s policy whether it suits consumer’s needs or not.
